Some Good News to Share!!!

EditorAfter a long wait the teachers under the state governments have a sigh of relief. Finally, the Union Government has decided to delink the age of superannuation from the salary arrears which is due to us since 2006. Teachers tried to pressurize the government through all the possible means to get it. Our central leadership under the banner AIFUCTO worked day and night on this issue. AMUCT too made its efforts- it gave a memorandum to Sri Oscar Fernandes, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee, MHRD. He promised that he will take up the issue personally with the government body. We believe that all these things worked in favour of teachers and we hope that our arrears will come to us very soon.

A new Higher Education Minister is appointed by the new government in Karnataka. At least, now we can discuss the issues related to higher education with someone and place our grievances. AMUCT office bearers met Sri C T Ravi in Mangalore on his stock taking visit to the district. He has promised a fruitful discussion with the teacher leaders of the state on various issues relating to higher education in the near future. It is a good sign on overall development of Higher Education in the state.

Very soon there will be election for the state leadership among the teachers. By the end of July FUCTAK will have new office bearers on the roll. They have a greater role to play. Since the Central Government has promised to release the arrears and asked the state governments to reimburse 80% of the arrears that they have already paid to the teachers of their respective states, the state leadership of teachers by now onwards make this as a prime agenda for the release of arrears by the state government.
