“Mastery over the subject, clarifying critical issues, understanding the concepts, experience in teaching the subject is necessary to write a book on any subject. Teachers should rise to the level of writing books” said Dr.Ummappa Poojary, former President of Amuct and Treasurer of Federation of University and College Teachers Associations in Karnataka, Associate Professor of Commerce, Sri. Gokarnanatheshwara College, Mangaluru. He was speaking on the occasion of release of the text book titled ‘Cost and Management Accounting - II’ at St. Mary’s College, Shirva. The text book is authored by Associate Prof. Rajan V.N, Principal of St. Mary’s College, Shirva and Assistant Prof. Seema Prabhu S., of Canara College, Mangaluru to the fourth semester B.Com students of Mangalore University.

The programme is presided by Very Rev. Fr. Stany Tauro, the Correspondent of St. Mary’s and Don Bosco Institutions , Shirva. Talking on the occasion he said, “Talking is easy but writing is really difficult task. Writing books by the teachers shows the academic maturity and comprehensive knowledge of the teachers on the subject”. He congratulated the authors for their achievement in writing the books and wished that the book going to be accepted by the students and staff. The book is published by one of the renowned publisher United Agency, Mangaluru.

Prof. Rajan V.N., the Principal welcomed the guests and gathering and said that St. Mary’s College is known for many publications of books written by the great authors like Prof. Bhavanishanker (Kannada), Dr.Padmanabhan (Political science) and Assistant Prof. Praveen Kumar (Computer Science).

Assistant Prof. Seema Prabhu S., the co-author of the book said that, “this book is written in a simple language understandable by even rural students. The highlights of points in each chapter helps the students to make last minute preparations, the book includes the solved problems ranging from 1985 to December 2015”.

Dr. Ganesh Bhat, the Director of Commerce Association of the college, proposed the vote of thanks. Pearlvita of III B.Com class compered the programme. The office bearers of the Commerce association, faculty members, Mr.Gurudath Baliga, Asst. Director of World Konkan Centre, Mangaluru, Prof. Gopalkrishna Samaga and Prof. Ratnavathi Leena Ferrao, teaching and administrative staff of the college and large number of B.Com students were present.
